Best Attractions in Karon Beach
What to See and Do in Karon Beach – Phuket

Karon Beach may feel quieter and more spread out than nearby Patong, but it still offers a good selection of attractions and activities for visitors looking to mix relaxation with exploration.
The area is best known for its long sandy beach, but there’s more to discover beyond simply spending time by the sea. From scenic viewpoints and cultural landmarks to fun activities and easy access to some of Phuket’s most beautiful nearby beaches, Karon makes a convenient base for exploring the southwest coast of the island.
Whether you prefer laid-back experiences or a bit of sightseeing, you’ll find enough variety to fill a few days without needing to travel far. Here are some of the best attractions in and around Karon Beach.

Karon Beach Activities

Karon Beach itself is the main attraction, offering a long stretch of soft sand and clear water, ideal for swimming during the high season. The beach is less crowded than Patong, making it a great place to relax while still having access to activities. Visitors can enjoy parasailing, jet skiing, and beach massages, or simply walk along the shoreline, especially in the early morning or late afternoon. The open space and natural setting make it one of the most pleasant beaches in Phuket for a mix of relaxation and light activity.
Opening hours: Open daily (public beach)
Location: Karon Beach, west coast of Phuket
Karon Viewpoint

Karon Viewpoint, also known as Kata-Karon Viewpoint, is one of the most famous panoramic spots in Phuket. From here, you can enjoy sweeping views over three beaches: Kata Noi, Kata, and Karon. It’s an easy stop along the coastal road and a popular place for photos, especially in the morning or late afternoon when the light is softer. Despite its popularity, the viewpoint remains a simple and accessible attraction that’s well worth a short visit.
Opening hours: Open daily, 24 hours
Location: Coastal road between Kata and Nai Harn
Wat Karon

Wat Karon, also known as Wat Suwan Khiri Khet, is a local Buddhist temple located just inland from the beach. The temple grounds are peaceful and feature traditional Thai architecture, including a main hall and a large decorative gate. It’s a good place to get a glimpse of local culture away from the beach scene. On certain days, the temple hosts a popular market with food, clothing, and souvenirs, adding a lively atmosphere to the otherwise quiet setting.
Opening hours: Daily, approx. 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

Dino Park Mini Golf

Dino Park Mini Golf is a fun and slightly quirky attraction located in Kata village. The course is set in a jungle-like environment with life-sized dinosaur statues, caves, and even a small volcano. It’s especially popular with families and couples looking for a relaxed evening activity. The setting becomes more atmospheric after dark when the park is lit up, creating a playful and entertaining experience.
Opening hours: Daily, approx. 10:00 am – 11:00 pm

Naga Statue

The Naga Statue in Karon is a striking cultural landmark located near the beach. Representing a mythical serpent from Buddhist and Hindu traditions, the statue is intricately designed and often draws attention from visitors passing by. It’s not a major attraction in itself, but it’s worth a quick stop for photos and to appreciate the local symbolism. The surrounding area is open and easy to access, making it a convenient addition to a walk around Karon.

Beach Hopping Around Karon

One of the best things to do from Karon is to explore nearby beaches, each offering a slightly different atmosphere. Kata Beach is lively and family-friendly, while Kata Noi is smaller and more scenic. Freedom Beach, accessible by boat or a short hike, is known for its clear water and more secluded feel. Beach hopping is an easy and rewarding way to experience the variety of Phuket’s coastline within a short distance from Karon.
