Religious Sites in Phuket: Temples, Shrines, Mosques, and Churches

The number of temples and religious buildings in Phuket is quite remarkable. With around thirty Buddhist temples, about twenty Chinese shrines (blending Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism), roughly fifty mosques, and a similar number of churches—Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and Evangelical—the island offers a rich and diverse religious landscape where all faiths are represented and welcomed.
Nearly 95% of Thailand’s population is Buddhist, with around 5% Muslim. Other religions remain a small minority, yet they are still visibly present in Phuket, one of the most culturally diverse and internationally visited provinces in Thailand.
On this page, I have gathered a selection of the most representative temples and religious buildings, showcasing not only the island’s spiritual diversity but also the beauty of its religious architecture. A few noteworthy sites from nearby provinces are also included, offering a broader perspective on the region’s cultural heritage.
