Koh Bon

When you live in Phuket, spending a day on Koh Bon almost feels like going on a small vacation. The journey begins at Rawai Beach, where you can hire a traditional long-tail boat either from the pier or directly from the beach. After a short ride across the bay, the boat reaches this tiny tropical island that somehow feels far removed from the bustle of Phuket.

Phang Nga Bay

Phang Nga Bay is one of the most remarkable attractions located near Phuket. Covering an area of approximately 400 square kilometers and protected as part of Ao Phang Nga National Park, the bay is bordered to the southwest by Phuket Island, to the north by Phang Nga Province — which gives the bay its name — and to the northeast by Krabi Province. Thanks to this unique geographic position, Phang Nga Bay forms a natural link between three of southern Thailand’s most scenic regions.

Phang Nga Province

Phang Nga Province is located just north of Phuket Island, to which it is connected by two bridges: Sarasin Bridge and Thepkasattri Bridge. Covering an area of just over 4,000 square kilometers, Phang Nga is a peaceful province whose economy is traditionally based on agriculture and fishing. Over the years, the rapid development of Phuket has helped bring attention to Phang Nga’s most remarkable natural sites, allowing them to be discovered and gradually developed for tourism while still retaining a largely unspoiled character.

Phi Phi Islands

The Phi Phi Islands are one of Thailand’s most iconic island groups, instantly recognizable for their dramatic limestone cliffs, turquoise waters, and white sandy coves. Officially, the archipelago consists of six islands: Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Leh, Koh Bida Nok, Koh Bida Nai, Koh Mai Phai (better known as Bamboo Island), and Koh Yung (also called Mosquito Island).

Geographically, the Phi Phi Islands sit in the Andaman Sea roughly halfway between Phuket and the Krabi mainland. They lie south of Phang Nga Bay and west of Krabi, making them easily accessible by boat from both Phuket and Ao Nang. This central position has long made Phi Phi a natural stop for traders and fishermen, and today it places the islands at the heart of southern Thailand’s island-hopping routes.
