A Modern Shopping Mall & Supermarket in Phuket Town
Big C Place Phuket is a large shopping complex on the Bypass Road in Wichit, just outside Phuket Town.
For years, it has been a practical place for locals and visitors to shop for groceries, household goods, clothes, electronics and souvenirs. However, 2026 is bringing a major transformation, with the entire complex undergoing a giant refurbishment that is giving it a considerably smarter and classier appearance than it had in the past. While the work is changing the look and feel of the building, its unusual mix of shopping, entertainment and activities remains.
Spread over several floors, Big C Phuket is much more than a supermarket, with gift shops, children's entertainment, a music school and sporting facilities all sharing the same building.
Ground Floor – Shopping Mall and Supermarket
The ground floor is where you will find the main Big C shopping area, combining a shopping mall with a large supermarket. The supermarket has everything you would expect from a major Thai hypermarket, including fresh produce, meat and seafood, snacks, drinks, household products, toiletries and a wide selection of Thai food products that can make useful souvenirs.
The surrounding shopping area adds clothing, cosmetics, mobile phones, electronics and various other everyday products. There are also food and beverage options where you can stop for a quick meal or snack during your shopping trip. The ongoing refurbishment is particularly noticeable here, with the renovated areas looking considerably more modern and sophisticated than the old Big C. For visitors staying in Phuket, it is also a convenient place to stock up on groceries and everyday essentials.
Basement Floor – Gift Shops, Electronics, and Kids Zone
The basement is a surprisingly varied part of Big C Phuket, with shops selling gifts, souvenirs, electronics and other useful items. This is also where you will find a children's entertainment area, making the floor particularly interesting for families.
Among the gift shops is Jenny Phuket, my wife's shop, located near the foot of the escalators. It offers a colourful selection of Thai souvenirs and gifts, including handbags, beach bags, earrings, headbands, cushions, wallets and leather belts, as well as gemstone bracelets and other items. Some of these products are also available through the Jenny Phuket website, although the physical shop has a much wider selection. If you are looking for small gifts to take home from Thailand, this floor is definitely worth exploring.
Upper Floor – Music School & Sporting Activities
The upper floor gives Big C Phuket an unexpected educational and sporting side. Yamaha Music School offers music lessons for children and adults, including classes in instruments such as piano, guitar and drums, as well as other musical activities. The floor is also home to PIDA – Phuket International Dance Academy, where students can learn different styles of dance.
For those looking for something more active, 50FLY Trampoline Club provides a large indoor activity space with trampolines and facilities for climbing, acrobatics, gymnastics, parkour and other sports. These activities make this part of Big C particularly popular with local families and children. So while most visitors come here to shop, the upper floor shows that Big C Phuket can also be a place to learn, exercise and have fun.
