Tri Trang / Emerald Beach
A Quiet Beach South of Patong Bay in Phuket

Tri Trang Beach—also known as Emerald Beach—is located to the southwest of Patong Bay. This small stretch of sand, about 600 meters long, sits at the entrance of the Paradise Peninsula, which is home to Paradise Beach.
Access to the beach is unfortunately limited by the Rosewood Phuket, which occupies most of the land along the shoreline. However, a small public park with benches, a golden whale statue, and shade trees allows visitors to enjoy the peaceful setting and swim in the sea. While all beaches in Thailand are public, access here is somewhat restricted—you can reach the beach by walking along the shore or even through the water, but not via the land path that belongs to the hotel.
The road above Tri Trang Beach, which leads toward Paradise Beach, is lined with bars and restaurants offering lovely views over the bay and, in the distance, the city of Patong. Despite its proximity to one of Phuket’s busiest areas, this part of the coast remains surprisingly quiet, with a good selection of hotels and dining options nearby.
How to get there
To reach Tri Trang / Emerald Beach, cross the road bridge at Patong’s southern end, turn left into the hill road. Continue until you pass Merlin Beach Resort on your left; Emerald will be on your right shortly afterward.

Emerald Beach Highlights
Lovely white sand and clear water in a peaceful bay
Easy to reach from Patong, without needing to go too far off the beaten track
A great selection of cafés and restaurants with views, just steps from Tri Trang Beach

Emerald Beach Heads Up
The development of a large beachfront resort means part of the serenity and natural skyline is diminishing
The beach may feel “almost private” in places or less secluded than it once was due to surrounding resorts and restricted views
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Emerald Beach is between December and April, when the weather is dry, the sea calm, and the skies clear — ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and photography. Early mornings in this period are particularly lovely, with fewer visitors and softer light.
Outside of these months, some people still come but expect more cloud cover, occasional rain, and possibly less favorable sea conditions.
