Phuket Districts
Discover the 3 Administrative Districts of Phuket

Phuket Island is divided into three administrative districts: Muang Phuket, Kathu, and Thalang. Each district has its own distinctive character, landscape, attractions, and atmosphere, making it useful to understand the differences when exploring the island or planning your stay.
Muang Phuket District covers the southern and southeastern part of the island and includes Phuket Town, historic Old Town, famous cultural landmarks, southern beaches, and popular viewpoints.
Kathu District occupies the central-western part of Phuket and includes the lively tourist hubs of Patong and Kamala, as well as the inland communities and natural attractions around Kathu.
Thalang District, which covers most of northern Phuket, is known for its beautiful beaches, protected natural areas, airport, historical heritage, and quieter countryside. Explore our guides below to discover the main destinations and attractions in each of Phuket's three districts.
