Nai Harn Beach

A Family-friendly Beach in the South of Phuket Island

Nai Harn Beach in Phuket, Thailand

Nestled between green hills and small islands, Nai Harn Beach is one of Phuket’s most scenic and beloved stretches of sand. Located on the island’s southern tip, this bay retains much of its natural charm despite its popularity. The beach is framed by the Nai Harn Phuket (formerly known as Royal Phuket Yacht Club) on one side and a picturesque temple on the other, while a lagoon and small lake behind the beach add to its tranquil setting.

The sand at Nai Harn is soft and white, and the turquoise water is usually calm during high season, ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and paddleboarding. The beach attracts a mixed crowd — from locals and long-term residents to families, couples, and yacht owners anchoring in the sheltered bay. Despite its fame, Nai Harn has managed to keep a relaxed, local feel, with small shops, massage huts, and casual restaurants lining the back of the beach.

Beyond the sand, visitors can explore the Nai Harn Lake for jogging or paddle boating, or hike to Windmill Viewpoint and Promthep Cape for stunning sunsets. Nearby, Rawai and Ya Nui beaches offer easy day-trip options for a more secluded atmosphere.

  • A few stray dogs are sometimes seen around the beach area

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Nai Harn Beach is from December to April, when the sea is calm and crystal clear, and the weather ideal for swimming and sunbathing. From May to October, the beach takes on a wilder charm, with stronger surf and fewer visitors — better suited for experienced surfers or those seeking solitude and dramatic coastal views.
